Beginners
The drawing and painting courses are designed to gradually increase the student's artistic skills, enabling him or her to advance from a total beginner to someone who understands the basics of drawing or painting still lifes, landscapes and portraits. Students will also learn about art history through exposure to the techniques of the old masters, including Velazquez, Goya, Corot, the Impressionists, and contemporary artists like Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon, Marlene Dumas, Gerhard Richter etc.
Intermediate and advanced students
Intermediate and advanced students will learn to develop a number of new painting techniques, strengthen their palette skills with mixing and applying color, and will develop their hand-eye co-ordination in drawing. They will also be encouraged to explore their own style, with personalised consultation from the instructor that focuses on how to develop their ideas, sketch books and techniques, as well as strategies for completion of works. As a student in this level you can attend any class and study and develop your own work.

Practising artists
from all over the world often come for private sessions for one to five full days in order to focus on very particular questions. These questions include understanding the particular palette and methods of an artist they admire, how to mix flesh tones, overcoming creative blocks, or obtaining advice on how to further develop one's work. We also explore how to develop themes from drawings, research and concepts in your notebooks to the realisation of a finished work.
For more wider explorations of your work and how to develop it consider the Intensive courses.
