PRIVATE SESSIONS
“Regardless of one’s experience as a painter, I would highly recommend a day with Eoin. He definitely has the ability to teach from the ground up and sense where his advice can be tailored to the particular needs of a student. I have learned many valuable lessons. I am excited to get back to my own studio to put them into practice.”
-S. Dureau, professional artist, Australia

Individual students and artists
We offer in-person studio or Zoom sessions of private instruction in either painting or drawing. Each session is based on the particular interests and goals of the individual. Past clients have requested sessions for a crash course in oil painting and/or drawing, or to find answers to technical questions, master particular techniques and styles, or work through creative blocks.
Sessions are ideal for people visiting Ireland for a short-period, or for beginners/students seeking to develop skills quickly to meet professional or academic goals. For clients living outside of Ireland, please note that we can arrange for your painted canvases (once dried) to be delivered to your home country with the postal company of your choice.
These sessions are also used by practicing artists to expand their skill base and material knowledge with the aim of pushing their practice to a new level. The artist’s current work is used as a platform to discuss their themes, styles and intentions, and then we study directly from key works of other artists to understand technique and how to best combine with the client’s present practice. This can include understanding the palette of a particular painter, color combinations, layering in painting and the direct copying of drawing and paintings in the style you wish to explore.
Following 1-to-1 sessions, When you complete this initial workshop or if you are currently painting with oils we would recommend you join the studio classes Wednesdays or Saturdays. In these sessions, you can develop your practice throughout the year and focus on whatever subjects and techniques are of interest to you, either in contemporary or classical painting and drawing. We also recommend you do the drawing course as drawing underpins all portraiture.
*Our courses work on a modular basis and reinforce one another. Understanding and applying the different styles you learn in these modules will ensure the development of each student’s techniques and individual artistic style.
